Can 95-97 Hoses Be Used On A 94?
Can 95-97 Hoses Be Used On A 94?
Wanting to pick up a set of Samco silicone hoses for my TA. They only made the 95-97 style but someone said they can be used on the 93-94's. Is this true, what needs to be changed or what is different between the years. I'm only looking to replace the 4 main hoses.
Re: Can 95-97 Hoses Be Used On A 94?
I think the only difference is the 93/94s have a small hose that sprouts off the main radiator hose to run coolant through the throttle body. Basically if you use hoses for the later cars you will get the tb bypass too.

Thanks for the info Bud M. Yes, that is me in the mag, in the LPE catalog and bottom of every webpage on the LPE site. Haven't done really anything new with the car just added LED turn signal mirrors that my friend modified out of the stock housings and LS1 tailights after the car was in a rearend accident on the way up to a car show.
At least the damage was only the rear and not the rear quarters. I picked up a new project car a couple years ago a 98 Nassau blue C5. The car right now has LPE heads and cam and in the future will have their turbo setup. The car is minitubbed with 19x12's in back with 345/30/19's and 18x9.5's up front. We also added a lot of options on the car that weren't available on early models C5's. These parts came from late model wrecked C5's. Heads up display, telescopic steering, eletrochromatic mirrors, and now magnetic ride shocks are just a few. I just added the Tigershark front and rear fascia and now waiting on the release of the hood. Pics of the car's exterior, interior, and engine bay can be seen at http://www.tigersharkcorvette.com/main.php

here it is..
You got it half right.. the other important half is that the bleeder pipe 'tee' has to be changed to a 'solid' 95-7 bleeder pipe:
There's a TOTAL of 11 hoses...
Basically, there are:
6 'heater hoses'[the 'heater hose assemblies', while slightly different for 93-4 and 95-7, work OK for both 'configurations'.. I used my 93-4 'heater hose assembly still..], You must leave the hose from the rear 'steam pipe' that goes to radiator on 93-4 [see below in shoebox' '93-4 radiator hose diagram' hose #4.. ]this is actually half of the 95-7 bypass mod. Do NOT do the 93-4 style TB bypass mod[which uses the hose barb connecting the 'bleeder TEE" to that Y in the 'radiator inlet hose']
2 'TB coolant hoses'[remove from TB do 'bypass mod']
3 'Water Pump to Radiator hoses':
a]Radiator Inlet Hose [different for 93-4 and 95-7 configuration.. see '2' below]
b]Radiator Outlet Hose [same hose for 93-4 and 95-7]
c]Engine Bypass Hose [same hose for 93-4 and 95-7]
To use '95-7 hose configuration' on '93-4' you need:
to CHANGE:
1]The 'heater outlet hose connector' [bleeder pipe] to one without the 'tee' on it, that the 93-4 [#4 in 93-4 heater hose diagram below]HAS [The 95-7 one DOES NOT HAVE a 'tee'] it is GM p/n 10262478 $35.07 GM list.. about $17 from Jason Cromer..
2] The radiator inlet hose: that goes from 'upper drivers side radiator inlet' to the 'upper water pump drivers side outlet' [GM 'radiator inlet hose'] GM 95-7 p/n 10261148 $21.39 GM list [#14 in shoebox 93-4 radiator hose diagram has a 'WYE' in it for the TB that you DO NOT want, or need ,for the upgrade ]The new hose you are getting [#14 in 95-7 radiator hose diagram below]does NOT have this 'wye.
3] Throw away hose #9 in 93-4 'heater hose diagram' below.
The 'heater hose assemblies', while slightly different for 93-4 and 95-7, work OK for both 'configurations'.. [I used my 93-4 'heater hose assembly still..]
You must do the 95-7 TB bypass mod, which is actually already DONE on 93-4 if you do this conversion[ it's the hose from the rear 'steam pipe' that goes to radiator on 93-4 [see below on shoebox' '93-4 radiator hose diagram' hose #4.. this is actually the same as what you do for the 95-7 bypass mod ], Do NOT do the 93-4 style 'bypass'[which uses the '3/8" hose barb' connecting the 'bleeder TEE' hose #9 to that Y in the 'radiator inlet hose']
The rest of the 2 configurations are basically the same..
I prefer the 'late' style due to:
It gets rid of that funny Y in the radiator inlet hose' and also the 'tee' in the bleeder pipe..
Makes a neater TB bypass mod [no 'hose barb', etc]
This should help you figure it out..
