Can a .5 OD be installed in a 93 T56
Gas is getting pretty expensive out in CA I hear
94 and later use a .5 6th so I would think it could be used in a 93, but I've not heard of anyone changing ratios. It seems like quite a bit of work to tear into the trans for such a little gain in ratio but maybe the gas savings would make up for it .

I would only do it if I had it out anyway (during a cutch job), and if it was reasonable cost wise during a refresh/rebuild (I've done some manual rebuilds before and could handle dissasembly and changing some parts and gaskets.)
Unless you have aftermarket gears, the '93 model cars came with 3.23's from the factory instead of 3.42's like the '94 and up, so that .62 6th gear coupled w/ the 3.23's is about the same as the 3.42's coupled w/ the .5 6th gear. Any more overdrive and the car would probably lose fuel economy from lugging the motor. You should be able to do over 80mph @ 2k rpm as it is.
