Help me out guys broken heder stud that connects to y pipe on stokc manifolds????

alright heres the deal i was taking off my stock y pipe today and was using an im pact and the stud broke of the manifold that has the nut on the end on both manifolds one on each side. anyway there is an exhaust leak now and it sucks. can a muffler shop drill the end of the snapped stud off the 2 manifolds and put bolts in there???? I am desperate

You won't know until you ask an exhaust shop, but my guess would be that they can take are of that for you.

I broke off some of the studs on mine when I removed the y pipe. I had to take the manifolds off anyway so I just heated up the manifolds and used a small pliers or pipe wrench and they turned out really easy. I know this would be a real pita if you didn't need to pull the manifolds out. I guess if you were careful you might be able to do it in the car.

If you can see head, why not do it yourself with vicegrips.

Talking

Hi there, I did the same last saturday. Here is my temporary solution. I used a small clamp(similar to c-clamp) from work to hold the broken bolt end down and slowly tighten the other two nuts. This clamp has a bolt to tighten. It seems to stop the leaking until I change to exhaust header. Hope this will help. The muffle shop can drill the broken bolt out but it will cost!
