Camshaft Endplay
Camshaft Endplay
I think I a problem here so I'm hopfull someone will be able to advise on this. Anyway.... I got my cam in and after I put the retainer plate back on, I still seem to have about 1/4" endplay in the cam. When I pull it forward (towards the retainer plate), the lobes of the cam seem to line up as they should with the lifter ports. When pushed back, they are again, approx. 1/4" off center. I don't seem to remember this drastic ammount of play in the cam after my other install.
I'm not sure on what device is to the rear of the cam to stop it, but it looks like it could be the freeze plug?? If this is the case, is it possible that when the machine shop installed the new freeze plugs, that he didn't insert it far enough into the block?? Thanks.
Edit: BTW, my heads are back and flow 278/197 @ .550 Should compliment my 230/242 just wonderful. :-)
