Camaro/ Formula diffence

Ok i'm pretty sure i know the answer but i'm going to ask to make sure. Me and one of my friends got in a big fight about it. He said that the formulas had different heads on them than the camaros and trans ams. And i told him they didn't. He said the ports on them were bigger and allowed them to flow bettter. I thought the only different in a formula and a trans am is a formula looks like a firebird but has teh trans am engine. Do they have different heads?

Hell no they don't! Smack your friend once for me, and once for yourself.

EDIT: By the way, the Trans Am was Pontiac's top model, so why would they put nicer heads on the formula?

Did he state what year Formula? he may have been thinking about the 91-92 Formula Firehawk which came with different heads and engine and intake, along with different transmission and and a bunch of other good **** and was twice the price of a normal Formula, stickered for $40-50K back in 91-92.

Technically, it wasn't an L98 anymore. a few had aluminum blocks as well.

Re: Camaro/ Formula diffence

He was talking about a 95 formula. One of my friends had one and totaled it, and that other friend said to go get that engine because it had better heads. But even IF it had better heads which it doesn't. I think one of them was cracked beacause he said it just stopped pulling at 130 and when he was sittting still water was coming out teh tail pipes.

Re: Camaro/ Formula diffence

Stopped pulling past 130 sounds like a different issue other than a cracked head to me. If it were cracked it would overheat and run like absolute ****. Water coming out of the exhaust could also be due to normal condensation, some motors do itmore than others... my formula every now and again has almost a pool come out of both tailpipes after letting it run for 10 minutes... been doin it for quite some time now also.

here is a cool infor page,
http://www.transamgta.com/Firehawk/

The last 3 Firehawks made all shared and all aluminum 366ci Rodeck block engine rated at 375HP. What even made these engine's even more special is that all of them (except the last 3) were actually built by GM to SLP specs and they also came with a warranty from SLP.
