Camaro 94 z28 2.73 to 3.90 gears.

Hello, i have 1994 z28 with 2.73 gears, i just got my new set from Summit. MGR-G875390 (3.90) I also got my RAT-108K INSTALLATION KIT 7.5 GM

A friend of mine told me that i will need a spacer, its that correct? What else should i buy?

3.08 and numerically lower factory rear axles come with a 2-series carrier. 3.23 and numerically higher come with a 3-series carrier. The gear set you linked is for a 3-series carrier, so you need a spacer and bolts to install that gear set in your 2-series carrier.

What kind of "sound"? Is it a "howl"? Means the gears aren't set up very well. Did you do it yourself or have a shop do it? I've been working on cars for 50 years, and wouldn't even attempt to set up my own gears.

No, i did not do it myself, took it to a shop. They had to use a spacer, the guy told me that he has done this setup 10000 times, but never from 2.73. He was a little concern about the "sound", but he told me that, the oil needs to be changed after 300miles, so he will check it out again. But i am a little worry.
