Yes, after you break in the cam you'll want to change the oil. Also most people recommend a conventional motor oil for breaking in a new cam.

Yes but change it after you ge the cam in and run it for a little bit so you can get any dirt and whatever into the filter or down into the oil pan. Then drain it. As far as the breakin period with regular dino oil....that's more for breaking in engines, seating the rings....and bearings and stuff. Not so much for the cam.

you dont need to break in a cam
unless you change the bearings, but even that is well.
i would be more worried about breaking in your new valve springs, make sure you heat cycle them

You're going to want to drain it. I ran mine for 15 minutes with the old filter and new oil. Then drained it and went 100 miles and changed it again with a new filter. I have been driving ever since with my Mobil 1 synthetic and so far all is well. Keep in mind I used the cheapest oil I could find. $5 for 5 quarts of shell 10w30 dino. Comes in a big 5 quart jug. I heard they even have 6 quarts for 5 dollars now!!!

You want to temper (i.e. strengthen) the new metal with many warm-ups and cool-downs.
