Cam surge possible answer

I was experimenting with my plugs (autolite 104's) and had the gap at .045. The car ran great and I had very minimal to no cam surge. So for kicks I upped the gap to stock and cam surge came like a bad dream! It actually got much worse then I expected. To answer questions before they are asked I put all wires back on the same way they came off and nothing is arcing. I am going to switch the gap back to 45 as soon as I get my lazy crack off the PC. Might be the answer to some cam surge problems with the bigger grind of cams; who knows
