Cam Recomendation with these other parts....

I'm in the market for a Cam, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted.

224 / 230, .502 / .510 112 LSA

but then I thought maybe this one would be better

230 / 236, .510 / .520 112 LSA

Mods are/will be

- Hooker LTs
- 1.6 pro mag roller rockers 7/16
- dual valve springs (crane 99893)
- hardened push rods
- comp "R" lifters (unless my stock will work, only 17k miles)
- gasket match and other hand porting of the stock heads

I know the 230 / 236 will make more power, but will it be too high in the power band?
this is my daily driver too.

Depends on your future plans.
I think the first would be better for a daily driver, but if you've got plans for the heads I think the second one could push out more power.

224/230 is going to make peak power around 5800, the 230/236 about 6000 rpm....its all up to you.

i'd go with the 230/236 their aint too much in gas difference, dont forget the torque converter if you have an A-4.

so the difference really isnt much is it then

I have a M6, so I hope I dont need a new clutch too.
The head work that gets done with the hand porting will be all that gets done.

any further plans includ a turbo you can get lost in, so its still a pipe dream.

I just dont want to totally kill my milage, and still keep my low end.

Looks like the 230/236 has the lead, how is it down low still?
