Saxrulez I run the Crane 210/224 and a lot of the guys down here in the South do also. My car is a lightweight bolton street car(not to be confused as a stock eliminator car) and I believe that it is one of the fastest stockhead cars in the country. The Crane 210/224 combo is much overlooked. I bracket race most of the year and only try to run fast in the very best weather because i'm NA. A couple of 6 speed cars down here have run better than 116 with this cam but i have the best et with the automatic. Also Cody Kern ran 11.36 118 with this cam and ported LT4 heads. Good Luck Frank95z

That truly is incredible. How light is your car? that e.t. still seems so incredible when guys with ported heads and cc306 arent even trapping that. I'm definitely not calling b.s. b/c i have seen your posts and honestly believe you have 1 hell of a car the thought of out-trapping a car with a cc306 with a mild cam is very appealing

nice times. that just goes to further support my belief that "mild" cams are the way to go. i've never had a cammed car before but the most impressive numbers i've seen posted have came from cars with mild cams. i'm curious of whether or not you drive the car on the street much and if so, what kind of gas mileage are you getting?
once i get the car payed off, i'm going to attempt to have a 12.0 second car and still get 25mpg on the highway. that goal has taken a bad turn since i got rid of the 6spd though...

Stock LT1 heads really benefit most from exaust duration.

saxrulz my car weighed 3330# with me in when I went 11.42. The combo of the car and me now weighs 3240#. I'm looking for low 11.30's or a high 11.20 in the cool weather with this setup. Mkent I drive mostly around town but on the last highway trip I drove 300 miles to my daughters house in Lake Charles. Car was a little heavy with all the seats and spare etc but on that trip I got 24mpg highway but I was actually trying to get good mileage and left car on cruise control at 60 most of the way. That was 600 miles round trip that blows the this is an all out race car theory out the window. Dr Mudge I believe the 224 duration/554lift on exhaust is the key to this cams power on stock heads. I'm running the 210/224 with mildly ported heads, SLP DC shorties and 4.10 Rear.

I never got a chance to see how it was going to fare, since, as you know, the SOB bottom went out on it with only 8K on the engine.

I know you are tired of hearing that, but DAMN, I just can't believe it.

Anyway, my new 4-bolt main shortblock should be ready any day now.

I wonder how it will perform with my setup??? I.e., with the small cam and heads, etc.??

That's pretty good MPG's Frank95z, who did your tuning? also i was wondering if you have stock gearing or something lower?
what about the rest of you guys with 210/224 cam, what kinda mileage are you all getting?
it sounds like this is the way to go if you want an 11 second car with great street abilities!

Errrrr....I aint gonna believe someone that says they are running 116 mph with a 210/224 and unported stock heads until I see it. What gives? Can someone please explain to me what is going on?

Mkent , Geoff at Thunderracing and I came up with the tuneup. Bubba Good luck on your ride. Z97lt1 Nothing is going on except I'm running 116 on stock unported heads. Somehow I think if you saw it you still wouldn't believe it. Frank95z

Just goes to show you that peak hp isn't what really matters. Sure there are guys out there that will make more peak hp than Frank's car with cc306s, 230/236s, etc, but if you look at the dyno curves and take the integral (area under the curve) you'll see that he more than likely has more area (which represents WORK). Then compare these values at split second intervals over the quarter mile and again you'll see that he has more average hp per interval and, therefore, gets lower e.t.s and higher traps.

Although on the street he may get beat WAY up on top end by the big cam cars, the other guy will have A LOT of catching up to do in the mean time.

Mkent I run 3.73 gears. Fafed93bird The cam iis also known as Crane #104227. The duration is 210/224 at 50 . Lift is 510/554 with 1.6rr , cam is ground on 112 centerline. Fast Caddie I made 331 rwhp but make 300 for a long time Next comment usually is you can't run 1.49 shortime with only 331rwhp But I do Frank95z

That cam sounds like it would make an awesome daily street/part time track driver. Do you think there would be any emissions passability problems?
