cam or headers? more power?

I'm torn between the two. I wish I could do both but one will have to wait a while. The two options I have are MAC Headers(probably jet-hot coated), or a CC305. I could probably get the cam cheap, used, and just pick up some new springs, and maybe some new 1.6's. Either way it looks like my two options would be costing about the same.

The only thing that I can see that would make the 305 cost more would be the tuning.

So which one would I see more of a gain with? and which is more worth the gain as far as price and going through the process of installation?

do headers 1st, no use putting in a cam only to be choked down by the stock manifolds, FYI you can get the Hotcam by itself from Jason Cromer for about $140

IMO, I think you should put headers on first before a cam. Get those manifolds off of there.

cool, headers first then. With the MAC headers, is it worth the JET-HOT coatings, or are they good without the coating?
tax return in a couple of weeks! trying to decide what to do with it

Definately get the headers first. The cam will give an improvement with or without the headers you'll just see a larger one after the headers are on.

The MAC's come with a coating--some people have had problems with it, some haven't. If it were me, I would get the Jet Hot coating.

Jason sells the Hotcam Kit for $479 and yes it's worth it to get the headers coated.

I have heard too many complaints about Mac headers. I would look into Jet-Hot's own longtube headers or Hooker headers. I have SLP shorties coated by Jet-Hot but that is only cause I got a GREAT deal on them.
