Cam and Head Bolt Lube???
Cam and Head Bolt Lube???
I have the GM847 cam and need some lubricant. What can I use?I'm fixing to order some parts through Jegs and thought i'd order some with my parts.Does it have to be a specific brand or can I use any engine assembly lube?
My other question is should I use any lube on the new ARP bolts or do they come with some? The first time I had my heads off I used Fel-Pro head bolts which had some lock-tite on them and theirs some of it still in the threads of my block.Whats the best way to clean that out?I was going to blow it out but I did'nt want to blow it in my water jackets.
Thanks,
JE

Re: Cam and Head Bolt Lube???
Just use regular oil for lubing the cam lobes and journals. Ours is a hydraulic cam so no need for any special lube. I would then purchase some ARP head bolts and ARP assembly lube or ARP assembly sealer for the head bolts. To clean out the bolt holes get a die chase the size of the holes. I believe they are 7/16 bolt holes.
