Exclamation Cam Fuel milage, What do you get?

I have a 1997 Z28 M6.

I have done several bolt ons etc. I am now about strongly concidering a Cam and Ratio rockers. This car is my only mode of transportation, and gas prices continue to suck.

I would like to know what after market Cams (tech specs) you guys are running in your daily drivers and the true fuel milage that you are getting with normal, laid back, driving. Also list the power improvements and/or e.t. reduction.

Thanks

Yeah,

I have gotten as high as 25.5 (stock only bolt ons). May decide on the Ratio Rockers only....Just looking for more power.

They are called roller rockers. The ratio is different, refers to how much the rocker arms actuate the valves.

Your only mode of transportation and you worry about fuel prices? Do yourself a favor and leave the car alone until you can afford to have the car break (and subsequently be down for some duration of time) and not sweat the fact that mileage will suck.

With the CC306, 3.23s, 3600 stall and ported heads, I am hitting about 13-14 mpg. This is with a mix of city and highway driving (city being a bit more).

HOTcam, homeported heads and all the bolt ons. Got 21.7 MPG with a mix of 80% interstate/20% city driving. The stall converter is a Midwest 2800 RPM lockup. I have PCMforless do the tune, told them to lean it out at cruise as much as possible- not sure how much difference if any me telling them that made though.

As for performance increase, it took .82 off of my 1/8th mile time, never got a chance to run in the quarter.

I've been seeing close to 18 mpg with CC503. About 75% highway and 25% city with plenty of WOT runs since I'm still enjoying the new power of the cam.

Re: Cam Fuel milage, What do you get?

highway before the hotcam was 28-30 mpg with bolt-ons. After the cam highway was about 26mpg and city was considerably lower, like 13-14mpg. It's hard to stay off the gas with something that sounds so good (i have a e-cutout). My gas mileage in the past year has been really good. I filled it up last april (2004) and still have about 3/4 of a tank. Oh yeah...i forgot i spun a bearing.
