How much endplay should I have on new cam install? I didn't check the old one before I removed it.

i just installed my cam. in the instructions sent my comp cams, it says that there is no need in checking the endplay with engines that have cam retainers like ours. i believe mine had about 1/8 inch or so with the cam retainer in place.
