Re: Cam DOESNT fit

If all the holes are off, perhaps you need to rotate the cam a little more so they'll line up correctly?

Re: Cam DOESNT fit

That's odd.. So long as there is an opti hole, I'd figure it to be dead smack in the middle. Have you tried putting on the cam gear w/out the chain just to make absolutely sure it doesn't fit?

Re: Cam DOESNT fit

Not that I'm aware of. A friend of mine bought an L98 style cam for his car, and in order to make it work ~ had to cut off a good portion of the dowel on the back of the opti. Other than that - the fact that it was still a SBC cam - it fit w/ no other issues.

Best of luck to ya.

Re: Cam DOESNT fit

I'd take the cam out and give it a try.

The pics aren't too clear but it almost looks as if the sprocket moved up a hair, it would be on.

If you can't get it to line up with it out, then you have some problems.

Re: Cam DOESNT fit

well the cam is a LOT bigger than the stock 1. The plate on the block that holds the cam in doesnt sit on the block and also the dowel pin hits it. so it is the total wrong cam I have been waiting over 2 weeks for this thing and i get it and it doesNT F'in fit

Re: Cam DOESNT fit

If it does not have the stepped machined front like the roller cams do (for the cam retainer), I would guess it is a regular SBC non-roller cam. The bolt pattern on the front of the roller cams is smaller than the non-roller.

Re: Cam DOESNT fit

Well I called the guy today and he said it should fit and that I am doing something wrong. I said nope then he called his guy at comp cams who designed it. After he got off the phone with him he called me and told me I need to call comp cams and tell them whats going on. So I did only to find out...Well S_*T I guess I was right. So I call the guy back and tell him what comp cams said and. He answers it as "well what do you want me to do?" I was like I cant use it and u told me I could. Well try to sell it since I already spent the $ he says. I cant sell it!!! Who on the board here cam freaking use it? And I dont see why I have to sell it...I was told it would fit and it DOESNT!

The guy that sold it is a scammer. He knew it would not fit your application. Most likely; that is why he sold it also. Post his name.
