Cam centerline

I am used to the old motors where the cams are measured on a 110 degree centerline and I am hearing the LT1 is on a 117 degree. Is this true and if so, what is the difference? How does the 117 compare to the 110?

Re: Cam centerline

Smaller LSA's (Lobe Seperation Angle) tend to make power a lot faster in the RPM range than higher LSA's do. The idle also gets changed, and becomes more choppy. If you wanted to compare power produced; 117* and 110* with the same lift and duration would most likely make around the same power, but the 110 would do it faster and make the power last longer to higher RPMs.
