Re: cam bearings

I'm wondering if anyone has ever done these without pulling the engine, so maybe we'll both get an answer here.

The engine has to be removed o change bearings, cause you wont be able to get the rear one!

Re: cam bearings

Have a shop put them in, it requires cam bearing install tool. They can be bought from summit or something if you really want. You should have a shop do it for you, it's not to expensive and you know it will be good. I have never heard of anyone doing cam bearings in the car but could be wrong.

LOL yeah ok, so you are telling me any shop is going to do it right? I highly doubt it when you got a kid that barely knows where his turn singnal fluid is on his car changing your cam bearings you might wanna watch out.

Re: cam bearings

It's kind of tricky and as mentioned, you need a special tool that is useful just for this one job. It would be difficult to do in a 4th gen with the motor in. For sure you'd need to strip everything off the front of the motor and remove the radiator. And getting the old bearings out is another story. Remember - the whole job has to be clean, cleaner, cleanest.

Re: cam bearings

Thaks for the info guys. I was kind of afraid it couldn't be done in car. I'd never heard of anyone doing it.
