Cam ???

I have a 96 z28 camaro. The engine was just rebuilt a couple weeks ago. Everything was replaced inside. As far as I know everything was left to OE specs exept a 60 over bore which would make it a 360. The place that rebuilt it also said that they cleaned up the crank, but i dont know what specs the grounded out, if that changes anything.

The lt4 cam on summit says that these are the specs Duration at .050 in. 218/228, Lift .492/.492 on just the cam not the kit. So my question is would I have to change any of the springs or lifters...or anything else? What other things would i be required to change too?

This is the cam:

Thank you for the help.

If you plan on using anything other than the stock cam, you ALWAYS have to change the valve springs.

I am pretty sure the one your looking at is the hotcam and does come in a kit with rockers, springs, and all other valvetrain parts aside lifters. If you get the kit the springs that come with it will work. Get the whole kit, than get a PCM tune.

The tune is need to correct the computer after the cam change. It will help MPG, idle, etc. It is necessary.

If you're not going to buy the complete hotcam kit, which comes with everything you need, I would suggest looking at different cams. The only reason I see to get the hotcam is because it comes in the kit and is just convenient since all the parts have been put together. However, if you decide to go bigger with cams down the road, the lt4 springs do not leave much room for a bigger cam as the hotcam is already pushing them close to their limit. Search "hotcam" and read up... Lots of supporters but most will suggest a different cam because you WILL want something bigger (guess what I had before the setup in my sig )

To add, many would suggest getting AT LEAST hardened pushrods with any cam bigger than stock. Some lt1s came factory with hardened pushrods, but 96s didn't

Ok. The only reason i figured to just get the cam seperate was because i was told that the springs were junk and that i need 1.6 lifters which i was told were not included in the kit. Oh and my car is auto too so... I'm not to sure how big i can go. Thanks again for the help.
