Which cam???

I have a 97 z28 M6 with intake, 52mm tb, tb coolant bypass, borla exhaust, 4.10's, pacesetter headers, MAF, 160 therm. I want a cam thats gonna give me a lot of torque, power, and sounds choppy and mean as hell. I have stock heads and will be getting 1.6 rr's. Any suggestions??

Bah! If you want big and bad without a soild roller setup go GM847 or LE3/4 cam. You need hardened pushrods, roller rockers, springs, spring retainers & keys, Spring seats and maybe some machine work to the heads depending on springs.

You are definetly going to need a tune.

If you want to know how bad this cam is going to sound, goto videos.streetfire.net and search GM847

cc306 is somewhere between a stock cam and a GM847 .. a cam isn't really going to have much of an impact with launching a M6 w/ 4.10s .. to get off the line you need drag radials and cross your fingers.. and praying your rear-end doesn't end up all over the track

the GM847 will make more power above 5K then the cc306.. and LE3/4 would give you same low end power of a cc306 and also the same power up top as a GM847 .. I'm hoping Loyd or Bret will chime in here and set everything straight

What can I expect for a power gain with one of these cams on stock heads? Any ideas?

cc306 ... ehh.. 20-40 hp.. GM847 prolly same .. give or take.

While you got the head off, find someone who can port those stock heads. Its worth every penny! I home ported my heads and gained almost .5 sec in the 1/4 mile! If you can swing it, call Loyd and have him port your heads (about 1000$) but with his porting and a GM847 with a decent tune, you could get mid 12s MAYBE low 12s!!

All depends how much cash you got to burn man

How much money u got to spend? Do you like the idea of running NOS?

i would say cc305 would be wat you would need

everyone is going to tell you to get a cc306 or gm 847 but you have to spin those to 6400 and this is very hard on the stock bottom end.

cc305 with 1.6 rockers is your best bet, you will love it.

I forget sometimes poeple are afraid to spin their LT1s beyond 6K.. I spin mine to 6600 .. even with the NOS

Course i hang around with a guy who owns 3 GNs .. one has a Stage 2 motor, i went tuning with him one day.. saw 9K rpms on the street with 25psi of boost..just about filled my pants! his best sofar is a 9.09 @ 153mph! with a street driven car!

I don't see why not to get a bigger cam such as the cc306 or gm847, i spin my 200k motor to 6900 on the cc306 to a 114 trap speed on stock heads, people need to stop being such a pansy when it comes to that kinda stuff, i'm not expecting it to last forever but when it goes it just openes the door to a new build and even more power
