Cai and 1le

If I buy a CAI, will I need to buy some kind of cap for the 1le? Or will the Cai include it? I am new to Z28's and just trying to see what I can do for relatively cheap to get it into the 13's.

CAIs do not come with any sort of cap for the silencer or donkey dong or whatever you want to call it for the rubber air elbow. If you want to plug the hole, you can use pretty much any deoderant cap or I've heard Herbal Essence shampoo caps work. Or, you could just buy the 1LE elbow if your elbow has some wear on it. I have a moroso CAI and a 1LE rubber elbow. About getting into the 13s, you should already be there if you have an LT1. All my friends with LT1s are into the low-mid 13s, and that's stock (some are very close to stock). You just need to learn how to drive your car (this isn't a slam, its hard to get traction on these things). You might want to try subframe connectors (especially if you have t-tops) and lower control arms to improve your launch.

And just how many friends do you have with LT1's? And its amazing they can all defy physics by takinga 14 second stock LT1 and making it a low 13 sec car all because of their driving skills.
GEt off your high horse your ignorant You aint no master driver there, jsut bein a ***** to some noob is what you are

Hey, don't get off topic over something soo trivial as what him and his friends run. The rest of the LT1 world runs low to mid 14.s. I just want to do a few simple things to get it into the 13's so my friends SRT-4 will be slightly slower than me.

About the subframe connectors, who makes good ones, and what would be noticeable after installing them? Thx for any info

BMR Fabrication probably makes the best suspension/chassis components for our cars, check out their site; www.bmrfabrication.com to see the other things you might wanna buy down the road. you should go with a set of their boxed sfc's and prolly a set of control arms to start with (they help alot in launching).

I don't know about mid 14's... I think just about every lt1 has a 14.0 in it on a decent run. BTW, mine went 13.9 w/ two people in the car w/ my ghetto air intake and a hooker exhaust

Let's not forget that altitude and temps have a lot to do with the times. In So Cal at sea level, we see 13s but my buddies in Colorado are in the 14s (stock). So, to take a full second off your time, I'd first find the free horsepower fixes and then improve the induction and exhaust.

One free fix is the Throttle Body Bypass which helps a little. If you are in the northern states with snow, it is basicall a de-icer that is on all of the time. I think Shoebox has a diagram on his website.

Re: Cai and 1le

Your on the right start with the cai. You dont have to bother with plugging the hole in your elbow, it wont make any noticable gain. Do all of the free mods and it will free up some more power. Something else you can do that is very cheap and free up some hp is to add an exhaust cut out. Also doing some simple weight reduction when you go to the track will help....take out the spare and jack, low amount of gas....things like that. These are just some easy things to get you started and should be able to get you into the 13's pretty easily. Good luck!
