cadillac converter

I have a 94 Lt1 and i was wondering if it would hurt to cut the cadillac converter off and put a flowmaster muffler on it? I've heard that cutting it off would miss the back pressure up and i've heard it would help the car run better. So will it help or hurt?

First off, if you cut it off you will never pass emissions and its actually a felony. So I wouldnt get rid of it unless its bad. Removing it and replacing it with a straight pipe tends to slightly decrease torque and slightly increase horsepower. so it just about balances out. replace your stock muffler with the flowmaster muffler, that would get you 5-10 HP with no loss of anything. and it isnt illigal, in most states.

We don't have emissions in alabama and its a camaro police arn't going to be able to look under it to see if its there or don't, plus the cops here don't care if it is or isn't there.

ok, then consider this. is it worth paying money and spending time to make a pipe, that may leak, because no one sells 3 inch 2 bolt exhaust flanges. to gain 5 HP and loose 5 torque.
FYI you feel torque, not horsepower, the car will feel slower.
I did it, and i regret it. The ONLY reason im glad i had my straight pipe, was to throw on there right after i built my stroker motor, it was running really rich until I had it tuned, and it would have destroyed the cat had I left it on.

Nuh uh! I had a cadillac converter on my 96z. You just press a button and I gained about 6 ft in length on my car and it grew 20 inch rims. And a lots of leather!

LOL yea I got that option too. Press a button, the car gets fins, a pink paint job, retro lights and rims, white leather bench interior, two dice dangling from the mirror, and a mechnical arm plops a feathered hat on my head. It's the RPO code PMP =)

Do you guys and girls think the California Emissions test is Excessive??

You should try the Hawaiian Safety Check!!! Its an

IMPORT STYLE SAFETY CHECK!!! LEMME SEE YER STICKERS!!

Big Kahuna made sure I had my "Prior year safety inspection Stickers on" and then took my registration cert into his office. When he came back from doing some Exhaustive soul checking, he had Written down the Wrong Adress in my new "ALL Systems PASS" safety inspection certificate!!

Not to brag about the "no emissions" test requirement either.
I swear I could be driving with my car slurpin down on Ten Cans of Seafoam and I would still pass the test!!! If I dont choke the
mechanic first that is...

I heard that in California....next year.... to make people comply with the smog requirements.... part of the new smog test will have the Car Owner inhale the exhaust pipe emissions for 30 minutes.... Special Helmet and Sealed Ehaust Pipe conector will be provided by the test facility though....
