Question A/C low pressure sensor q

My ac does not work, I filled it up last summer but now it's down again. So likely there's not enough pressure...

I was going to try and find out whether it's just not enough pressure in the system or if it's the compressor that is dead. So I figure if I could fool the low pressure sensor somehow and make the compressor to "click on", then I would now that it is working and either the pressure is low or the low pressure sensor is gone...

So how does the low pressure sensor work? Does it give voltage when the pressure is ok or does it give voltage when the pressure is down? Or is it like good pressure at lets say 5V and not enough pressure at 2.5V or something.... Do I just jack the connector off or do I shorten it or do I have to put some voltage or resistance to the connector....

Or can I check the compressor in another way?

Thnx.

In the past on my third gen ac I used a jump wire on plug to the sensor, once you make a connection it should kick on the ac clutch.

I could jump the compressor clutch relay in the fuse box....

thats wrong.....if you jump the a/c clutch relay you will get a service engine light, the pcm will likely disable the a/c and your engine will not go into A/C mode. You were on the right track before. Take off the connector, it looks like an upside down triangle. Jump the two connectors at the base of the "upside down" triangle. The system will run as normal. If it runs then you probably have a leak and therefore have low pressure. If nothing happens reset the PCM and try again.

Ok, thnx scoobysnax83, I'll try that when I get home from work and take it from there.

By the way,a triangle is just a triangle...ever heard of an upside down sqare?

Just yanking your leg a bit there...tnhx for the input.
