Question A/C compressor bypass?

My A/C compressor has failed. The car runs great, but it's making a horrible noise from the Compressor area and it doesn't blow cold air anymore.

In order to delay the expense...can I just run a shorter belt and bypass the compressor without harming anthing and wait 'till summer for the fix?

If so...what length belt do I need to bypass the compressor?

Thanks for any help.

i could be wrong but i think you just need to run the 1LE belt. just go to your local auto parts store and tell them it was a non ac option car and they should have a part number for you.

You can not simply replace the belt. You'll need a 1LE a/c delete pulley (about $60 locally, about $35 online).
After removing the compressor, one puts this dummy pulley into that spot, and with a little luck the belt will still fit. I say a little luck becuase some experience a belt replacement is needed.

Yep, gotta have the delete pulley. I usually build mine out of scrap aluminum and idler pulleys from 2.8 camaros
