A/C cold air leak into engine bay

i closed my door and i heard the water drip onto the headers from the a/c. while investigating this i noticed that where the two condenser lines go back torwards the firewall and into a plastic shield thing, there is cold air shooting out of there into the engine bay.

1) is the condensor suppose to cycle and keep the lines cold even when i've got the heater on?

2) why is it shooting cold air into my engine bay? its doing it all the time, both when i've got the heater on AND when i've got the a/c on full blast. this could possibly be why my a/c isn't as cold as it should be...

Man i wish i had your problem because that would mean during the summer i would have a/c. Instead i spend over $500 on parts for the a/c and all i get is hot air .

that is the evaporator housing. you have 2 lines going in. a high side and a low side for the AC. if you had your AC or Defroster on it will kick on the compressor. if you have air coming in through the housing then chances are there is a crak in the housing or the seal is missing. you can use RTV or anything to seal it up. perhaps the evap core was changed before and they didn;t put teh seal back in
