A/C clutch diode

I had to replace the electrical connector to the A/C clutch on my 94 Trans Am, but there was not a diode between the two wires anywhere near the connector. One diagram I saw said it should be 16mm from the connector. At the top of the engine where the harness joins up with the fuel injector harness, there is a long epoxy filled tube hooked to the black wire, but I can't see the other end to see if the green wire goes into it. Did the location of the diode change over the years? The new connector with 12" pigtail does not have a diode.

Here is the diagram from the 94 service manual. You can get the whole manual using a link here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/v2...n_complete.pdf
