buying a used cam?

buying a used cam?

is this a bad idea? would it work like a new one? thanks

OK to install "used" cam as long as a qualified machinest has checked and polished the cam. Since it would probably cost you $50.00+- anyway, you will want to consider whether it is wise to buy it. JMHO. Also, if the vendor can give you proof of condition as confirmed by a machinest, it may also be an option. Otherwise....

I haven't had problems with used cams for our cars. The HR is much easier on the cam. As long as you can get good pics of it or see it firsthand, make sure that there are no scratches or nicks in it. Then you're good.

I would make sure you buy from a reputable seller. It is easy for someone to pass the cam off as one thing, only for it to turn out to be another. And as mentioned above, get pics, detailed ones at that, making sure all of the lobes are in good shape.
