Buying a '95 Trans Am

How many miles do you guys get out of your T/A's (auto tranny)?

I'm looking to buy this one tomorrow in pristine condition.

When do the major items fail - auto tranny for example?

What else should I look for during inspection?

Car FAX is clean.

What would you pay for this car? Red, leather, premium sound, auto.

Appreciate your help!

A LOT depends on how the car was driven. Take it out for a "heated" run to tell how the tranny performs. How many miles are on it? When i had my auto it had 73k on it and shifted perfectly.

89K miles - which scares me a bit.

Seller has all documentation.

He replaced fuel pump, water pump, rear brakes, tranny maintenance TPE (sp)? service, distributor, wires, etc...

well, actually i wouldnt be too scared. Looks to me like he has replaced the usual stuff that goes out around that mileage(waterpump, opti, etc.). As long as the tranny is up to par then your good to go. I know someone who has 135k on his 94z with stock tranny.

all depends on location and condition. I paid 7500 bucks for my 96 T/A, fully loaded, 84,000 miles, records from previous owner and such

He's asking $7150 (close to Edmund's if considered O/S condition for his mileage and options).

If clean worth $6500 or so.

I was thinking offer $6K.

Will need new tires w/in 10K miles - he has all season on for past 35-40K.

It was in a minor fender/bender two years ago but no airbag deployed. I'll closely check repair job and paperwork.

Did this car originally come with Goodyear GSC tires?

I paid 5600 for mine about 3 months ago 80k miles fully loaded with borla exhaust, 3.23's and a slp cai... the only problem was that the bank held the title and he had a minor accident... the same night a kid ran into my car and broke my windshield.... 3 months later i spun out and did 3k worth of damage to it...

Not sure if I followed all of that... but sounds like everyone (along with T/A after repairs made) is OK. That's the important thing.

This car is all stock and adult owned. He says he wants to replace (or perhaps already has) with an SUV for the family.
