Buying an 8 year old LT1 with really low miles, Any Issues!?!?!

I found a mint ’97 Z with 24K. I haven’t seen it in person but I’m defiantly interested in checking it out and probably buying it.

Is there anything I need to pay special attention to since this car has only averaged 3000 miles a year? The current owner has only put 1000 miles on it in the last year. Is it bad to run a car that little?

Any input would be helpful. thanks

definitely not bad thing with low miles, but try and get under the car and look for signs of abuse: oil leaks, transmission fluid leaks, differential fluid leaks.

Yeah I'm bringing a jack so I can get up under it when I go to look at it. I was just wondering if there is any downside to a car that is run so little.

I'd kind of doubt it's undergone serious abuse in it's 3k/year lifetime, but u never know. since it has obviously been sitting a lot, u might want to pay special attention parts that dry up and rot out. might want to take a look at maintnence records or pull a valve cover. anything is possible, but it's just like any other car buying ordeal

Cars like that you need to be SURE they are legit...a lot of people try odo. fraud as well. Get a carfax report even if it costs 20 bucks.

My main concern with it would be leaks, that's what I would be really looking for.

...or it might have lived it's life a ¼ mile at a time.

When I bought my Z many years ago, it had about that many miles on it. The trannsmission had been majorly abused and went out not long after. Of course I bought it, knowing that it still had factory warranty left (and it paid for it). That's not something that a 97 is going to have, now.

Carfaxed it tonight, compared to the questions I asked him, everything is legit so far.

Everything yall have mentioned are things I was going to look at anyway.

I guess I just have to drive it and check it out then.

thanks

my 96z has only 30k on her, only problems you get from low mileage is oil leaks, gaskets getting hard and leak, but if hes selling it at a good price go for it
