I would buy a second car, something that isn't going to have any problems. I drive a 88 Honda Accord to work and school, and drive my TA when the weather is good.

I had this same situation a year ago....I went with a fast everyday street car and I am happy I did, the only thing that bother me is the snow but you would not have to worry about that in Cali...

My suggestion would be get the head/cam and mabee N20. I would go bigger in the cam department, mabee the 224/236. It pulls all the way to 6400 rpms makes great power and with good tuning you will have little or no surge. My friend has this cam and stock heads with PCMforless mail order tuning and he can out run every lightly modded (intake and catback) LS1 that he ran. And he has the stock 3.42 gears for his 6 speed car. He has beaten many low 13s second cars and stayed with most mid 12 second cars. Withs some good heads, good tuning and this cam you should be even faster....And mabee N20 for those days when you really want to go nutz.

My vote is for a fast street car.

Thx,
Claude

I know the feeling. Going from the king of the street to being some riceboys lunch. However there is one cool thing about driving a beater in the winter, the first time you get back behind the wheel of the Camaro in the spring, it will feel like driving a top fuel dragster. But only for about 10 minutes

i agree 100% i took my car outta storage last year and it was 100% stock in apperance and just had the SLP CAI and SLP LM and i brought it out and i was like WOAH! thought i was gunna die or something from speed... blah blah i put it away lookin like it is in the sig with a few more mods, But ill be taking it out with the heads and cam swap done and all the supporting components. So im sure ill be in for a NICE supprise when i get it out! But it really sucks when some idiot in somewhat fast ricer smokes you (my 3.8 can hang with alotta stuff but.. still it has 150k on it) I always keep a picture of my Camaro in my car to remind me that once summer comes i wont be just that guy driving around ... ill be the guy driving around in the loudass good looking camaro that hauls bag..... If i could drive my Z all the time god knows i would. WINTER SUCKS!

I will have to say beater car, with a quick trip to the local salvadge yard you'll be fixed for another year. I have a done up 383 and I can honestly say I would never want to drive it everyday.

Get you an early 90s S-10 like my 93 S-10 for around $1000 and anything that goes wrong with it can fixed with junkyard parts and very little work. My truck is so much easier to work on after working on an LT1. The only thing i hate about my truck is that i always pull up to stop lights with a mustang or another camaro and my Z is at home in the garage.

LOL! That was a typo. My bad. I meant a 87. I had to go edit it. Hahaha. Thanks for catching that!

you keep a pic in your wallet to?

Im j/k my car is my girlfriend too

I would get the beater, your insurance might even go down, if your Z is no longer primary driver. Plus your saving the Z from all that salt, and a ton of cold starts.

Go bigger .....like a 230/236....thats still very streetable. That said I would still get a beater for a daily driver. My daily driver is a 85 Toy 4x4.....205,000 miles and still going(BTW I am the original owner)
