bushing or bad D.S causing crazy vibration?

ok when it idels the car is fine.and if i gas it in park its fine but as soon as i actually go there is this bad vibration i feel in the steering wheel that is def. not normal and the pass. seat starts shaking.when it shakes the tachometer is fine, there arent any jumps in the tach as it shakes.what could cause this?the only thing i noticed that could be helpful is before is shifts the vibration is really bad then when it shifts its better.its def. not the tranny mount and there is no wheel hop so i dont think its anything behind the tranny but i have no idea.is there anything on the front suspension that could cause this>??thanks guys im really stumped.

Your driveshaft is bad. You need to get it balanced or you need to buy a new one. Most people get the 1LS or 1LE driveshafts. Go to any junk yard that has Camaros and you can usually pull one off of an LS1 model Z28.

The first thing you should check is the tranny mount bushings. If they are split, then that is probably the source of the vibrations. The driveshaft doesn't just go out of balance. If you want to replace the driveshaft, that's your call, but you might want to take it to a driveline shop and have it checked first.

At what speeds does this exactly occur? Driveshaft vibe starts mostly at speeds over 70mph or so. I'd look into the following things:
-Make sure it's not a misfire. Misfire feels like a vibration and can be rather annoying.
-Does the vibe occur in neutral, car standing still?
-Check the pilot bushing, it gets torn apart very easily, I think mine is going as well. Unfortunately, you have to pull the tranny and the clutch/flywheel for this operation.
good luck

ok it happens at speeds over like 20 mph.and yes this vibration occured all of a sudden.very unexpected.i have a new poly tranny mount and a new tranny and torque converter.my tranny guy is on vacation and he comes back on mon.so he will check my driveline and im hoping it is the driveshaft b/c thats too easy to fix.what is the pilot bushing and what does it do??oh yea the vibration doesnt happen at idel or in park.oh and i checked for any messed up wires and im 99% sure its not a misfire.this vibration is constant but does change in vibration intensity and it gets relieved by a shift.but as soon RPM's get up before it shifts its vibrating bad.any more ideas please?thanks guys i really appreciate it

A poly tranny mount will cause a lot of vibrations. Do you have the energy suspension model? They had a recall on those because they were too tall. I don't know if they've released a revised version yet. I spoke with them around November or December and they said they were going to release a new one in early 2003. You could try swapping in a stock tranny mount and see if that clears up your problems.

Hmm.... It sounds that something is wrong inside the tranny. Input shaft maybe... Definiately get it checked at a tranny shop!
Good luck!
