Smile built 383, H/C

Hi guys, im asking a few Q's for a friend of mine, whos getting his 93 TA's LT1 built up.
First off, its being built with forged slugs and rods, i dont remember if the 3.750" crank is forged or not, and alot of other upgraded internal stuff.
Its getting port&polished heads, 5angle, oversize valves. Comp 987 springs, Ti retainers. 1.5 rockers.
The cam is a 230/236, .584/.585" 112lsa comp grind, on an aftermarket 1.5 stud-mount rocker.
The intake is a stock LT1 port matched to heads, and TB.
He will be running LT's with a 3" dual exhaust with Xpipe and spintech mufflers and turndowns at the axle.

Basically he wants to be able to run near my car (NA). And when my motors done, I'll be making around 440rwhp/405tq with my LS1.
How much rwHP/TQ do you guys think it will make with this setup?

Also, could someone recommend a tuner for him? The 93's require custom chips to be burnt, right?

TIA
jason

Tuning: Madwolf on here, or PCMforless.com. Both are very good tuners, I haven't heard a complaint about either.

If the heads are worth anything, then with his cam he should peak a little over 400 HP and about 380-400 TQ. HOWEVER, to maximize that cam, it would be recommendable to go with 1.6 rockers over the 1.5's.

If he plans to make 440rwhp than those heads are going to have to be dam good. The cam could be upgraded to the 236/242 for some extra insurance. In a 383 it should be somewhat tame. The 1.6rr's will help too.

A H/C 383 LT1 should have no problems getting 440rwhp. Tell your buddy not to pick the cam until the heads are finished and match the cam to them. If he doesn't he will come up short of the 440 mark. Oh, I would stay away from the XE 236/242 , do a search on this board, there are lots of people putting out more power with smaller cams than with that one

Whatever he does, get the 1.6rr's, with that extreme of a set up, seems dumb not to have them.

Ill check out those tuners for him, thanks.
About those 1.6's, wouldnt that push the actual lift #'s way past .600" ?
Would the 987's hold up to that kinda lift?

With some good heads, I think he might worry you. Tell him to get 977s for that cam. The lobes on that cam are very steep and will cause vavle float, not good. Talk to Bret at Bauer about that. I think he should look into LT4 heads for that motor, but I think he will still make nice #s with LT1 heads. Also, don't get 1.6s. That is the worse mistake he could make.
