Building LT1!!!

Hey guys i want to here your set up with your LT1. I would like to know how much power you are making and if you know your 1/4 mile time. I basically bought a LT1 from a 96 impala ss. I say basically bc they are holding it for me but its still in the car and they want all the money before they pull it. I dont like that deal. I was going to give them like 100 bucks then the rest once its done so i know all the wiring is good and not just cut. Any ideas? It is complete with everything for 500 bucks.
I know it is 260 hp and 330 tq. Why is that so much less than the camaro or corvettes? Should i get aluminum heads? What the difference in the engines? My goal with the engine is between 380-400 rwhp.
thanks
kevin

What are you putting the LT1 into? early lt1s have a different opti setup.

The iron heads flow more, but are more prone to detonation.

hp difference could be the intake exhaust setup on the car. The cam is different and is supposed to have more torque.

No i have a 1990 camaro with a 305tbi that i want to get rid of. I thought that a LT1 would be a great motor to swap in to it.

Does it come with all the accessories and the computer?

If so then do it.

Do you have the a4 or the 5 speed?

What do you mean "build it up". Unless you plan on opening the bottom end up. Then do this to achieve 400whp~
All bolt ons
Advanced induction Head/cam/intake set up, or
Loyd elliot Head/cam/intake set up. That will grant you 400~ whp.

Ok so i think its going to cost alot more than what i thought. I will still be doing the swap bc i really like the LT1 and then i will get some respect besides the 305tbi. I think i will get it rebuilt then a big cam, 3000 stall, good tune. Then mabey get it bored .30 over and get good internals. Then if i have the money get the heads worked alittle. Then mabey get alittle bit bigger injectors bc im sure the need replaced. Then Later on i will swap some high performance heads on it and some other good stuff.
thanks
