Your going to need a new gasket kit with seals from top to bottom, I'd put atleast 30lb injetors, 58MM TB, upgrade the clutch to atleast a stage 2 while you have the tranny out, all new bearings to be safe, i'd put a new water pump new pistons and rings, new oil pump, new cap and rotor while your there, new plugs and wires. thats all i can think of at the moment. I'm sure others will remember things i'm missing. I know a motor build isnt cheap since my dad and i built a 355 last year and it cost about 5k.

And if your thinking about using nitrous i'd suggest forged pistons, crank, and I or H beam rods. Internaly balanced preferably.

You will be 4.030 pistons for a 5.7 rod if you are reuseing rods.
You will need larger injectors, 42lb should be plenty.
You will need if your building a 355 you definently need to use new bearings.
You will need a gasket kit
Bascily, you will need everything for a stock rebuild + injectors, pistons.
You might need the crank turned also. (im not sure on guidelines for when a crank needs turned).

Keep in mind, a rebuild always costs a ton more then you expect.

LE2 h/c
total rebuild kit(includes all bearings, oil pump, freeze plugs, pistons, rings, etc.)

Im useing the stock fpr on my car, stock heads. I see no reason why an LE2 will not go 12's. Your gonna need some drag radials, to hook up. Not sure if you could run a 12 spinning on street tires. Not sure on your fuel pump.

A friend of mine had the LE2 heads with LE1 cam and a ported intake and he went 11.9 with Mickeythompson Drag radials, 30lb injetors, 255 fuelpump with an adjustable fpr and a good tune. Yet he had a built tranny, 3.73 gears and some suspension mods with the usual bolt ons. The LE2 setup on a 355 should take you to the mid 11's to low 12's with a good tune which you will need since your going to up the injectors.

put arp bolts in the rods. Get at least 36lb injectors, you may need a fuel pump depending on how big of cam you get and if you ever plan to hit it with spray.

Low 12's should be no problem for a le2 car. With a good suspension and 60ft you should be able to get into the high 11's. But you may need a 12 bolt so you can dump the clutch @ 5k. May as well do a clutch while everything is taken apart.

As far as your budget, add in another thousand or so. Many unexpected things will come up.

Good luck

as for the drag rad.'s, i already have a set of Mickey's w/ 8-10 passes on them, ARP bolt kit is on the list, i dont have $2500 for the 12 bolt, but i have 2 sets of 4.10's in my basement, i already planned on going through gears.. i think i will go ahead and and get a 255 fp and an adj. fpr. as far as valvetrain, will i need to change anything being that i will prob. go with his custom grind 232/240 .584/.584 108LSA or should i stick w/ his small 218/224 .544/.544 111 LSA? will this engine still be somewhat fuel friendly? like above 14-15 mpg? right now im getting 19 mpg. and also, i dont plan on ever spraying this engine.

Since your rebuilding, I'd go with the larger cam. I would if I had the chance to upgrade the main and rod bolts. Right now I have the cam in my sig only because I'm trying to keep the rpms down on the stock shortblock. 6400 on motor and 6200 on the bottle.
Give Lloyd a call and see what he thinks.

If you're going with the LE2 package, why do you need to decide on a cam?

With all the work you're doing, you might be better off getting a shortblock sent to you. Then you can assemble the heads on it with the motor on a stand and then you just swap accessories when you pull the old motor out.

You will definitely need to upgrade every part of the valvetrain.
