Broken Power Programmer?

Ok, well before somebody says get Pcmforless I'm just using this thing to adjust my cooling fans, and I didn't pay for it b/c my buddy went to college and let me borrow it. Anyways, when I 1st programmed the car I adjusted the fans and installed "power tuning." To get the Hpp to work I had to hold the cable plug-in....seemed like connection was loose and not working by just letting it set. Now I've realized the power tuning is worthless and would like to go back to "stock" except the fans, but the POS Hpp won't work . I've tried holding the cable....leaving it alone...nothing works. After it says "Turn key to run but do not crank engine" I turn the key, and it just keeps repeating that message and "making communications with vehicle." Then the piece of junk shuts itself off after about 20 seconds. Any help would be much appreciated

I don't think it's the HPP that's faulty. You probably have a bad connection on the ALDL connector. Hypertech's connectors are molded and I have yet to see one fail.

I'm assuming the ALDL connector is what the Hpp plugs into. Is there any way I can check to see if this is the problem, and how could I fix it? My buddy will eventually want his programmer back, so I have to figure this out. Thanks for the help Madwolf

Yep,
that's the connector under your dash. You will have to remove the bottom panel (2 screws?) and examine the connections.
If you still can't get it to work, you can always take your PCM (computer), put it in your buddy's car and deprogram it there.

I've seen 3 hpp3s go and Hypertechs customer service is the worse I have dealt with in the car industry.
