broken plunger retainers on comp-r's
broken plunger retainers on comp-r's
has anyone had the retaining clip that holds the lifter plunger in the lifter break? I have a fairly new set of comp-r's with about 3,000 miles on them, and 2 retaining clips fell down in oil pan, and 2 more are cracked. Any ideas?
Re: broken plunger retainers on comp-r's
I've seen a few scattered reports of that happening with relatively fresh lifters here. The retainers braking, and the lifters coming apart. Do a search on here for more, and call comp, I'm sure they'll send you a new set for the defective ones.

So is it obvious when this happens? I have the Rs and unless some type
of obvious sound or performance change existed, I would never know the
difference. So far the car runs awesome. But then again, I used a very
conservative configuration, set the lash to 1/8, and don't spin past 6,100.

Bret says "take look under the VC at the RR and PRs, which should be between GPs, afterwhich you can look into the LV with a FL, and see if you have lost any RC from your lifters. If you have, they may have goine through the OP and OF, or maybe even have found a new home lodged in your WT or OP" haha.

Re: broken plunger retainers on comp-r's
Had the same problem with clip breaking on one lifter and ending up in the pan. Called comp and explained the problem. New lifter on the way to replace the broken one. (f.o.c.) Now I hope no more break! On a side note, call them early. It is almost impossible to get through during mid-day or evening.

thanks for the info. I called comp, and they gave me a rma # to send them back, and new ones are on the way. P.S. i found pieces stuck to the drain plug, thats how i knew they were breaking.
