LT1 Based Engine Tech 1993-1997 LT1/LT4 Engine Related

Broke a stud, bent 2 push rods cant find the rest of the pushrod..

Broke a stud, bent 2 push rods cant find the rest of the pushrod..

I was driving home last night and ran into a mustang. we messed around a bit, I thought for a second I blew my clutch but thats not the case.. Though it does need to be changed.. So it was driving very rough on the way home which was about 3 miles or so. I parked it home and went to sleep.. woke up today and took it for a ride to feel for it with a clear head.. I couldnt tell what was making the vibration because my exhaust isnt connected, i sold the catback to a member on the boards and havnt yet recieved my mufflers.. SO I drove about 5 or 6 miles and couldnt figure out what it was. Clutch was slipping anyhow so I took it home and pulled the tranny.. Clutch looked fine, nothing really wrong with it.. That wasnt good..

I decided to pull a valve cover. First one ofcoarse was the driver side. Nothing. Then I pull the passenger side.. something.. I didnt see a pushrod on #2 cylinder I looked next to it and the sud was broken off the exhaust valve and the rocker was loose, and the push rod was bent. the push rod for the intake valve was bent in half and wouldnt come out.. I took the rockers and studs out and the exhaust push rod. I figured since im paranoid or would be if I didnt check I decided to pull the manifold.. Well the lifter retainer(spider) was bent up a little bit, the push rod is there but wont come out due to how its bent.. And the tip of the push rod thats supposed to be round was gone. Its no where to be found. It must have fallen into the motor. Now is this something to worry about or will it fall into the oil pan? This is my main concern.. The car is going down for a bit and im going to go with 7/16 rockers and studs, i have to take car of a few things aswell.. But im freaking out about this peice not being around. I mean i really hope I get lucky and its ok.. I have a magnetic drain plug and im about to go drain the oil to see if i can see it.. Also that distance that I drove it, it didnt have #2 cylinder, it was firing but both valves werent opening.. Would that have hurt anything?? Also what about the cam? It looks fine from what I can see but its possible I wiped out the cam isnt it?
