Broke My timing Chain

So I was in WOT, and right when the motor got to 5K rpms, it went *SNAP*...

I pulled everything apart, tooth broke of the lower crank gear, and the chain snapped. It also crack a piece of the timing cover. I replaced the timing cover, and now I added the edelbrock dual roller timing chain kit, that is made by cloyes. I lined up the two dots, and now the motor sound like it's off timing, I double checked the wires, and their fine. I looked up some info, to see if you could install the gears 180 off, but they all say nay. Just line up the two dots.

SO there is two things, either I bent some valves, or I'm 180 degrees off... I've been told that it's not possible to bend the stock valves with the stock B body cam, because of the lift is so small. I've searched thru the threads, but all of them, had so called mechanics do the work, and they of course went ahead, and did the heads, some found bent valves, some didn't.

So I'm at a cross roads....

Coudl Have I installed the gears off, even though I lined up the dots, or do I have bent Valves?

BTW car is puffing thru the intake...

I dont believe there is any way you couldnt have bent some valves. When the crank keeps turning and your cam doesnt that equals a pretty messed up set of heads.

Opti in the wrong hole?

I just changed my cam and put a new timing chain and gear by Cloyes in too. The dowel pin is pretty darned long. I can't see how you could get the opti on wrong.

There are 3 different holes on the opti that the dowel can go in, If you get the wrong one your timing will be off.
