broke another engine mount in 6 months

i was leaving work today and got on it a little to avoid a car that switched lanes quickly and i feel bump bump bump in my shifter and the general center console area, this was the same thing that happened to me back in march, and the engine mounts snapped. whats the reason for this? i was told the new mounts would last over a year and its only been 8 months and i drive realtively tame, i dont abuse the power. and i was only at the track once back in june. are there aftermarket mounts for high hp/torque motors? any one else had this problem?thanks

Do you mean transmission mount? That's the one that normally breaks.

I guess it could be the motor mount but I just don't see it happening that much in that short of time frame.

Moroso makes some solid metal motor mounts and I highly doubt you'd ever break one of them. There are also a few companies making poly urethane mounts that I would think would work well but busting a stock one in 8 months I don't know! http://www.racenet.net/eng/moroso-mounts.php

www.thunderracing.com Thunder Racing sells Prothane polyurethane motor mounts. I've got them, and Energy Suspension poly tranny mount and I've never had trouble with either.

Go with a polyurethane one. I spent $14 on two of them, each one breaking 3 months apart from each other. After that, I spent $25 on a polyurethane one, and haven'thad to touch it since (it's been 4 years...)

Just read this and was gonna say the same. Sounds exactly like a trans mount.

As far as B-Stevens goes.... Its right under the rear of the tranny. It holds it up I guess you could say. Put a jack under the trans pan, use a 2x4 of wood or so to distribute the weight so you dont f-up your pan. Just put some pressure with the jack and you'll be able to see if there is a crack in the rubber or uerathane. Don't just look at it because a lot of the times you cant even tell.

My friend has put like 20 of the stock rubber ones in his 93 Z. He put a polyurethane in and bitched because the car vibrated more. Then he switched back and is at like number 23 now.

I've busted one stock mount and my replacement poly mount is still going strong. I got mine from my friend for $20 bucks. You can get them from summit or jegs, I believe they go for around $30 dollars. Don't forget the torque arm bushing while you're at it.
