Good to see that the market is expanding for the ltx. Dart is also suppose to be releasing a ltx head as well. So wo is going to be the guinea pig?

Yeah - the Dart LTx head was at PRI last year, have not seen it be released yet.

Damn this... these companies need to start working on optiless ignition systems and cooler intake manifolds. That's what we really need to improve.

266cfm @ .600 for the "as cast" RR 200's out of the box. At least they're not an Edelbrock re-run.

Curious to see what Dart comes up with.
I had a chance to buy a set of 23 degree Brodix heads with 1.5 shaft mounts for pretty cheap that flowed 280 cfm. Not enough flow for me, had to convert to reverse cooling and just who used 1.5's anyway??

Turns out after porting the heads flowed 338 cfm. Now I kinda thinking 1.6's shaft mount rockers ain't that expensive and doing the reverse cooling maybe isn't all that bad either. After hearing the 338 cfm part, I'm really kicking myself in the butt as that is off the normal scale.

Let's see what Brodix comes up with in terms of larger castings but a lot of real racers use their heads and evidently there is a huge potential in their castings. Man, Whoopie doo for all of us on this head stuff as it just keeps on getting better n better.

They need a easy conversion setup for removing Opti, I'm affraid to de-grease my engine because I have to hose it off after!

what did they flow on the exhaust side?

The heads are going on a true race motor with a .750 lift cam so the flow numbers quoted are for .750 lift. At that point the heads flow 335 (my mistake..not 338) intake and 242 exhaust. @ .600 the heads flow 324/226.

What the Brodix head flow as cast means nothing to me knowing now what the real potential is in porting their castings. As mentioned.....it's becomming a very good day to buy heads. Good for all of us.

I'd have to ask but I'm pretty sure they had 2.08 intake valves.

i'd like to think that these heads were "in stock" but someone is going to have to have one in their hands before I belive it.

I just called MBE Performance and asked about these heads. The guy said that basically Brodix took an already existing SBC design and made a new program for it so that the heads could be machined for either standard or reverse cooling. So what we're looking at here is a "borrowed" SBC head. The option for having the heads milled to 58cc's straight from Brodix is $215. They also have a "CNC Race Port" option for $225 that bumps the max flow @ .600 to 272cfm but he said it picks up more low lift flow over the standard heads. He said Brodix considers this their "budget" head which is why there isn't a huge gain in max flow over the "as cast" heads, but they keep the porting to a minimum so that the flow numbers stay low enough to not infringe upon the territory of their more expensive "Track 1" heads. He said with custom porting, there is alot more to be had out of them.

Good to know. Are all the accessory holes and other LTX/late model specific things there?
