I went for a quote yesterday to rebuild my engine, if I supply all the parts, they will assemble the shortblock for $2000... I said, "wow thats a deal" and laughed my *** off as I walked out the door.

I was quoted $300 for the same thing about a year ago. I bought a MIG welder instead. I'm gonna install mine this spring, if you plan on coming into CT anytime this spring or summer i'll do 'em for free too (The only drawback being i'm not a very experienced welder).

I know I built my first engine when I was 14, however I'm looking for a shop that can crank some "crate shortblocks" out, and are quite good at what they do. I need to find a good machine shop around here that knows LT1's and LS1's. I asked the guy have you ever worked on LT1's or LS1's, he said, "are them those aloooominimum things", I said "yeah" and just braced myself.

some places in jersey want as high as 160 bucks. i found a place that my friend works at though, and they will check the frame, straighten if necessary, and weld in, then paint them for a mere 100 bucks. seening how its a hundred bucks to straighten the frame, i am going later this week to get them installed.

before installing the sfc's, get your frame checked for alignment. i knew a gut that tried to put on some bolt on sfc's, his frame was bent so bad that the bolt holes weren't even close.

install the lca's yourself...all it takes is removing 4 bolts and jacking the car up...takes 30 minutes.

did mine with a spare tire jack in a driveway...
