UPDATE! That did it! I hit the brake hard at idle and felt a small pop and the light went off. I guess the switch lined up. Damn how I hated that light!

Thanks to Arnie and shoebox!

Cool THE MASH REAL HARD WORKED FOR ME TOO!

Friends,

Here's to the "NET KNOWLEDGE", I had the parking brake light problem. (Warning light, wouldn't go off after a flush and pads). I searched the group, found this article and did what it said.

That is, at idle, MASH REAL HARD.

VIOLA!!!!

IT WORKED FOR ME TOO. I was so frustrated at my brake system and when I mashed real hard on my 1987 IROC Z/28 Camaro with 4 wheel disc brakes, I felt a POP and then, 2 seconds later, BAMM. The light went off.

I'm just replying to this thread so that people who do a search for parking brake warning light stays on or won't go off, like I did, will FIND the answer.

ISN'T NET KNOWLEDGE COOL!!!!?!?!?!?!

A very happy brian in atlanta.

Good info CAN be found on this forum, both in current threads as well as archived threads. This forum is frequented by many knowledgeable members including several pros. This is a popular forum for those and othere reasons as well.

However, there is a downside to a popular forum that subsequently, has alot of traffic. Although a strong suit of any forum is in the quality of largely timeless archived info, as well as ease at which this archived info can be accessed, there is a limit to the quantity of info that can be stored. With the amount of posts/threads this forum experiences, it becomes necessary to 'rotate' archived material. This means, after a period of time, the oldest archived material is deleted as newer threads are added.

Bottom line: if you desire to access archived info, do it within 3 or 4 months. That period of time can go by quickly. You may need to print out info/threads if the intent is to reference info after that time frame.

this is an old post, but i found it in a search ......anyway
My car has the light on too, and when I unplug the connector on the abs pump like shoebox reccomended, the light goes off. What should be my next step? I tried pressing the brake real hard but that didn't fix it. Should I bleed them and is there a certain sequence to do them?
