I have some headers and the borla sound did change a bit but I still like it. I need to find out if the tips cause the borla to pop? If the tips is not the cause than I will just add the mecham tips. Anyone?

Exactly. This is why I am always telling people that Borla sounds best on a mostly stockish car(internals, manifolds, cats). Has a really unique-sounding rumble to it. I guess it would still sound good with headers as long as you run highflow cats and keep the engine stock.

Without cats, YUCK. Really raspy and very thin sounding(not deep at all). Don't like it with a lopey cam either. Kinda sounds like it is popping popcorn at idle. Listen to one in person or an a dyno this way and you'll see what I mean.

Thanks cndctrdj for the info. I guess I have to try it myself. I kinda supsected that the poping or purr that the borla has, has nothing to do with the tips.

Does anyone here have a sound clip of some long tubes, high flow cats, a borla, and a cam? I am going with FLP long tubes, high flow cats, borla, and a cam that is a little bigger than the cc306. Just want to have an idea of what this is going to sound like.

I have a 2001 WS6 with a Borla Cat back exhaust. I switched the tips to the Borla Tips because I felt the Mecham Tips looked better. There was noticeable change in exhaust sound. Overall it has a slightly louder more aggressive sound. That popping sound you speak of is quite a bit worse. It hardly ever happens, but when it does it's very loud. ( A lot louder than I remember it was with the Borla Tips) Still the overall experience is good. I wouldn't switch back.

By the way, for those who are interested, I still have my Borla Tips and will be posting them soon for sale.
