does somebody have a picture of this part? 10271371 boot retainer. gmpartsdirect.com sells for 6.31. is this the plastic square that the leather boot on a 6 speed tucks into? thank you

I don't have a picture, but I can tell you that the part number you've given is for a 97-03 shift boot retainer ring. It is NOT the same ring for a 93-96, which means people falling into that year range have to buy tyhe entire shift boot assembly (part number 17997789)

Have a search for "10271371" and there will be 3 thread to leaf through.

 

I'm putting a shift boot on my A4, this migiht help me. That entire shift boot assembly can not be found. I tried to look it up but I got nothing. will that come with the bag??? thanks... and if anyone can think of a way to get a bag over the shifter of an auto let me know.
