BMR tunnel brace first impression
BMR tunnel brace first impression
I just installed the BMR tunnel brace. I replaced the factory one because I got tired of continuously having to bend it down so my exhaust wouldn't rattle on it. I immediatle knew the chassis was stiffer when I let the passenge side down and the wheel stayed in the air. Three wheels off the ground with only one jackstand. I got the whole car down and took for a ride mosatly to make sure my exhaust rattle was no more. The driveway at my shop has a big dip just as you enter the lot. usually I enter at an angle and can feel some twist in the chassis. This time it felt alot stiffer. kind of glided through the dip this time. I read alot of discussion about it and most opinions were it wasn't worth it. I for one think it is. I can't wait till I put my BMR boxed subframes on.

the exhaust was taping on the edge of the brace. to remedy this I would have to take a cresent wrench and bend the lip down. The car is a six speed w/ factory SS/SLP exhaust. My auto has a completely different brace and I have never had the same problem. The auto brace looks like the one you always see on BMR site connects at two points. My SS had a brace that connected in a triangular way to the tranny mount as well. The car feels stronger and going over dips and in and out of parking lots you can really feel the difference. I would compare it to the way the front end felt after I put my strut tower brace on.
there in my room waiting. I have some relocation brackets ordered. Those are the only two suspension mods I have not done. So far my favorite has been the torque arm. I broke the factory one off the rear end. I guess I drove it a little to hard that night.
