Blueprinted Motor

If you pay a professional shop to machine, assemble and blueprint an engine, isn't it standard to receive paperwork with the clearance and balance specs on it?

I don't know if it's standard, but I do know that a shop is like any other contractor. You have to have clearly defined terms and conditions so that you can have a good business relationship. I would certainly make sure the shop knew up front that I wanted a "bible" for the engine. I would of course be willing to pay a bit more for anything more than basic documentation.

That's just me of course. I might be an @$$h@le. In fact, I'm pretty sure....

Re: Blueprinted Motor

when I payed to have my eng. int. balanced, they gave me a sheet that had all the info Id need if ever replaced any parts that would change the balance. I got all the info and didnt ask for it, but the fella told me about it to make sure I knew what it was and why I should keep it. I got the impression most people dont get that info. I didnt think to ask before hand. but on another note, blueprinting an eng. requires you to take all the spec. readings, and make them perfect. so Id expect them to keep that info for their records. otherwise, whats there proof that they act. did it?

Re: Blueprinted Motor

IMO, if you paid a reputable shop to blueprint your engine, they should provide all the specs in print. It just seems like the correct thing to do, though I would have verified that they would do this before the work was actually done.
