First of all I have just recently blown my head gasket in my 97 30'th Anniv Z28, no analysis from a mechanic but here is what my symptoms are: Oil pressure is fine at start up while engine remains cold, as the engine heats up my oil pressure rapidly drops and jumps around as the rpm range varies, but never goes over 1/2 of the gauge. At idle oil pressure is slightly above 0. After 2500 rpms the engine sounds louder but not refined as it originally does. There was a silver black metallic like sludge on the top of my oil cap as well. No oil has leaked from the car either. So let me know if this analysis is correct and if I am going after the right problem.
Next off I am looking to rebuild my engine and have yet to find a quality mechanic in Greensboro, NC that I would trust with such a task, as I am incapable of performing an engine rebuild. So if I could get some suggestions for a good mechanic or if someone on this board is capable of doing it let me know. I would like to know how much you would want to do this and I would be more than willing to help out so I can gain the knowledge and experience.
That's pretty much about it but if someone has any suggestions for what heads and cam packages to go with and where to get them from let me know. I know about the tbyrne, thunder racing, etc but feel free to point me to any deals. Also what all do I need to replace for a complete engine rebuild because I have searched for kits on the internet and have found none. I wouldn't mind just rebuilding it as an LT-4 engine. But any help would be greatly appreciated.
