Blocking the EGR

Ok so I have the LT4 EGR Block-off plate (8.49 summit) and I'm wondering on my FLP LT's what can I use to block the EGR Inlet Tube on the header itself? Would aluminum work, duct tape, steel?

Thanks.

Oh and I do have pictures if you don't know what I'm talking about, just lemme know.

On my SLP's I made a blockoff plate out of a piece of 1" wide by 1/8" thick aluminum plate. Home depot sells them, they come 1" wide by 2,3, or 4' long. Just ground out the shape on a bench grinder. If you are leaving the tube on there you could just block it off with some thin aluminum sheet almost like a soda can I would bet. Duct tape??? Don't think that would last too long, it gets pretty hot back there

I wasn't sure if the Aluminum would be able to work, I will give it a try though....lot's of RTV sealant might help!

and Duct Tape cures all - or so I was lead to believe

I think you were on the right track with the duct tape. After all the header is just a duct for exhaust gasses.

Mine were 12 ga sheet steel that i just trimmed to shape. Copper RTv to seal them.

Home air ducts get to maybe 120 degrees or so (what duct tape is designed for)

Exhaust manifolds get to ohh, maybe 1200 degrees!!!

Unless there is a new high temp flame resistant duct tape available I don't know about I doubt it would last there very long

Use lots of copper RTV. Aluminum works fine. There are two holes on the back of the intake you'll need to block, though.

the part I got from Summit doesn't fit right, so I don't know if the GM Parts dealers would have the right fit one...but I'm just gonna remove it this weekend and cut all new pieces to fit.

If you use aluminum, using a hard alloy such as T6061 aluminum is recommended. Especially as the header plate is only mounted with one bolt which can flex over time and leak.

Email me or check out my site if you need more help.
