block screw problem

I tried some pb blaster, I hit it with the torch and some candle wax but I keep braking the wrench or adapter. Its square and the 1/4 inch fits with a tiny bit of wiggle. What can I try? How long should I have the torch on it for? Thanks.
Should have put head screw problem.

Re: block screw problem

you talking about the 1/4" NTP fittings on front of block that have alan head?

you would not use a 1/4" ratchet drive on those.....but do use heat (torch) and the correct size alan wrench

Re: block screw problem

That "screw" is a pipe thread plug in the aluminum head, not the block. Be careful with the "heat".

Why are you trying to remove it? Appears someone deleted the steam pipe from the back of the heads.

...or, if it is a newly assembled engine, someone put them on the wrong sides (meaning there are open ports on the front of the heads that now need those plugs).

thanks for looking, its not deleted, just never used, it was a display. Yes they are in the heads, I should have put that instead, Im sure Im not using enough heat I wanted to be on the safe side. everything was capped off on it one way or another and these are the last 2.

Re: block screw problem

You want to heat the area around the threaded plug, not the plug itself. You want the head to expand from the heat, causing the diameter of the hole to expand. If you heat the threaded plug, it will expand, and simply get tighter in the hole.
