Bleeding the air from the coolant
Bleeding the air from the coolant
When i did this on sunday, the bleeder on the thermo cover was open until coolant came out, but the other one when i opened it, nothing would come out and the coolant would volcano out of the radiator, is this normal?
Yeah, I put paper towels under the valves so the coolant would have something to catch it. I did get all of the air out. You bleed the one on the thermo cover with the radiator cap off, and the other with it on.
The paper towell trick is the key for sure.
The service manual procedure says to bleed with the cap open, engine running, but I stopped doing that after 2 "volcanoes"
I have great luck bleeding with the cap off, and engine not running yet. Just fill to the top, open the bleeder (either), and leave it open until you hear the air STOP rushing out. This should bring the water level down a little. Repeat until the water STOPS going down, replace the cap, and then do it with the engine running (CAP ON). Drive a day or so, and check the level for the next few days.
Good Luck
Sean

I took me more than 2 "volcanoes" to learn to shut the motor off. But I did catch a clue. I got all of the air out. But my low coolant light is still on, so i am assuming that the sensor is bad. What causes it to go bad? It worked until i replaced my radiator.
