BILSTEINS or KYB AGX

i was wondering which of the two i should get. I use my T/A mostly for daily driving and tend to drive it really hard especially on turns and such. I plan on putting them in with the DMS lowering springs I bought a while back... Would you use any other brand or a combo? I was also thinking about running Nitto 555R Extremes on the back and Yoko AVS intermediates on the front... the Dunlop sport 8000's sucked... Thanks

I vote for the KYB's. I use them and there adjustable for what you want to do. The Bilsteins are not, plus they are very expensive.

If you want the best get HALs QA1s.
If you don,t want to spend that much money, and I did not, then the KYB AGX is a nice cheap alternative, I got all 4 for 400 bucks and I have yet to find a problem with them or have a complaint about them. I run them with an Eibach drag launch kit and big and littles so I take turns slowly.
The one time I had my old tires and wheels on, 245/50/16s all around and stiffened up the shocks they even tamed my drag springs down enough to handle decently.

Like how expensive for KYBs (from above post $400?)? Bilstein HDs can be had for $300 a set.

Since you are just wanting a shock for daily driving i would go with the Bliseins. There is really no need for an ajustable shock if you are not going to use it for drag or auto x.

Yes the Bilstiens will be cheaper.
I bought my AGXs at advance auto so I think you might be able to find them a bit cheaper but I would think they still would run ya about 350 for 4.
I was willing to spend some money on shocks just not KONI drag shock (350 each for front ) or QA1 prices.

Also, stay away from the the AGX's if you plan on using them specifically for drag racing. There adjustable, but the lightest setting the same as the setting on the stock shocks. So you can go stiffer than stock, but not lighter.

I have kyb's and they are fine, If you are at the track just set the rear shocks to the stiffest setting and adjust the fronts to the loosest, I am running low 1.6 60's with the sway bar removed.
Thats a good 60'
If I was a better driver I could probably hit a 1.5 on my setup.
But my reaction time sometimes leaves me doing this

I just put on a full set of Bilsteins with stock springs. They definately made the car handle better, even on smooth roads for some reason. They were not a night and day difference in ride quality though, but my shocks only had 55,000 miles on them.

They feel great, but if you want the front end super stiff, get something else. I love the bilsteins. Anything more, and the ride would be too harsh for me. For cornering, you should seriously consider a bigger front swaybar.

All in all, I can tell that my car is much more controlled than it was before, and I wouldn't want anything more than the Bilsteins. They are warrantied for life also.

I've tried KYBs, Bils, Monroe's and just about everyting else the last 10 years on my cars and the best of the bunch is Bils- at least for my money. KYBs and the rest (other than Bils) didn't hold up much over 20,000 miles. I've thought about the Hals and may go that route if I decide to play with adjustments.

Bilsteins, the durability is far better than the KYB's. For street driving they would be okay but for the same price you could get the KYB AGX or the Bilstein HD's. Go look at the SCCA, you will find almost every team running Bilsteins or Koni - reason is simply becuase of durability.

I ran the KYBs up front for about a year, and have recently switched to the Hals - there's a drastic difference, on the lightest setting, between the two shocks... Yea the AGX's can work ok up front for drag racing, but no better than the stock shock would. Like I said, the lightest setting on KYB AGX's are the same setting as the stock shocks - just ask KYB... So if you're specifically looking for an adjustable shock for drag racing use, I'd recommed that you stay away from the AGX's - at least up front.

I don't think you can wrong with the Bilstein's. Great for everyday use and track use.

The KYB's maybe okay for street use, but I don't think they hold up to hard driving.

BTW.. I bought all four of my HD Bilstein's for $300 from Shox.com
